Bringing TRANSFORMATION

Holoholo Ministries is a Gospel-focused ministry operating out of Kailua-Kona; focusing on empowering and raising up the local people of Hawai’i into the international mission field, Paul and Doreen have poured out the last 30 years of their lives to making God known in the islands of Hawai’i.

Through blessing local communities and meeting felt needs, they aim to make God known and witnessed through their serving and ministry, allowing transformation and Gospel principles to be physically seen and experienced by those who are receiving their blessings. Ultimately, they want to see the islands of Hawai’i enter into revival again for the Gospel and see the state once again become faith-filled and transformed by knowing God intimately.

There are four main ways that the ministry operates within the Big Island:

  • Deep and Beyond

  • Konawaena High School Football

  • For Kona From Kona

  • Discipleship Training Schools

Deep & Beyond

Deep & Beyond is a non-profit organisation that is affiliated with Holoholo Ministries, aimed at bringing access to ocean swimming for those who are otherwise unable to swim without supervision, whether this be due to mental or physical impairments.

Through the use of mobility equipment (such as ramps and Mobi-Chairs), all people are able to access the ocean and swim in it; a privilege not normally afforded to all. Deep & Beyond aims to create a safe and welcoming space for people of all abilities to enjoy the ocean, make connections with others, and foster a sense of community.

This allows both the carer to enjoy time with aid and support from staff members, and always the cared for to fully enjoy the ocean as any other person would.

Konawaena Highschool Football

Since 2007 Holoholo has partnered and invested in Konawaena High School and the Konawaena Wildcats Football team; as coaches and support staff. Although fun is a definite goal, Holohol aims to create a safe and positive environment for the athletes to enjoy the game while developing new skills.

As coaching and support staff, Holoholo aims to instil discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in each player, both on and off the field. Thus, helping them to become better individuals, classmates and students; bringing a ‘champion’ mind-set to all aspects of their lives, even after they graduate.

For Kona From Kona (FKFK)

For Kona From Kona is a summer event that runs at the local Old Airport Hockey Rink. Running twice a year, the soccer tournament aims to bring communities together for a weekend of competitive but fun soccer.

The event not only provides a safe space for teams to compete but also aims to give back to the community through a $500 scholarship afforded to a student for the first two years of their college education. This aims to bring furthering and drive towards their academic goals and pursuits within their own life.

Holoholo DTS

Holoholo runs a 6-month Disciple Training School accredited through Youth With A Mission. Like most DTSs that run throughout the globe, this school is split into two parts; lecture and outreach. Holoholo continues their year-round community ministry and engagement, thus allowing the students to practically engage in their learning right from the get-go, blessing local people and allowing Christ to shine through their serving and heart posture.

Holoholo has strong partnerships with the Philipines and Thailand and often will go to do international outreach there with their long-established partners and communities. However, they have recently begun going to Mazatlán and Brasil, extending their sphere of influence and transformation globally.
